How was your wrk as an intern meaningful to your education?
Unlike many interested in entering law enforcement, I was able to speak with professionals about what they feel are problem areas with incoming employees and what they feel was needed. This was what launched my project because this information can be incredibly helpful for those interested. Along with this information, I was able to explore and research other important factors and areas within this work. This has been very meaningful to my education. Now I feel more confident in the direction I would like to take and what is needed for this.
How did your project go from an idea or inspiration to a final product?
My project came into discussion the first morning I was present for over ridiculously chocolatey mochas he made (do not misunderstand, they were quite good). His difficulty grasping the concept was apparent while he moved about the room. After some time he jumped a bit and said "Oh, what about this?". After all the trouble of figuring it out, I was slightly surprised with what an excellent idea it was.
With the idea down it was time for implementation. I spent the next several days interviewing those within the department and those in the legal field. With this information at my fingertips, I went to narrowing it down, formatting, and what parts were the most important. Then it was all about research. Whether it be through personal experience being at the PD and doing ride-alongs with my mentor, or online. At times it could be difficult with the amount of internet dilemmas, but that is how my project came to be.
